deepening: practicing svadhyaya, cultivating tapas & discovering shradda 200 hour teacher training program year-long immersion for dedicated students
The program begins in September with the foundation of the Universal Principles of Alignment, and then builds on the skills and techniques for teaching. It is recommended that you begin in September and follow the course for the 12 months consecutively. There are two options for participation in deepening: practicing svhadhyaya, cultivating tapas and discovering shraddha. The Teacher Training track includes “teacher certification,” whereas the Immersion track does not. If you pursue the Teacher Training track you will receive a certificate when you complete the curriculum requirements that you can submit to the Yoga Alliance in order to become a 200-hour certified yoga instructor. Immersion and Teacher Training students come together one Saturday a month for yoga asana, philosophy, pranayama and meditation. In these 4 hour sessions, you'll be deepening your own practice, observing and integrating alignment principles, discussing the practice of yoga on and off the mat and studying yoga philosophy through group format discussions. Teacher Training students then stay on an additional 2 hours to expand the immersion track into learning techniques in observation, use of language, hands on adjustments and sequencing. Sarahjoy Marsh, MA, Program Director, will be joined by members of the amrita teaching staff and visiting teachers with expertise in anatomy, yoga philosophy, meditation and psychotherapy. This training is a registered program with the Yoga Alliance. As stated above, completion of the certificate requirements qualifies you to apply for a 200-hour certification with the Yoga Alliance. teacher training deadline for completion of
